Centrals 15.9(99) def. by Glenelg 15.17(107)
- TRIAL
The above scoreline is not a mis-print. Glenelg managed to
win its first game against Centrals since Round 15 in 1999.
Pity for them it was only a trial match and it doesn't count.
Centrals' record winning streak of 13 games against Glenelg
remains unbroken. :)
The game was error-ridden on both sides. But for the Doggies,
they were mostly the kind of errors you make in a trial when
you're Reigning Premiers and you think your opposition is
crap. Players were far too casual in defence.
And for those who have been confused by the conflicting stories
on the CDFC guestbook, I can confirm that Luke McCabe played
today wearing #8. McCabe is a real person and he is playing
for Centrals. For those with a keen eye, McCabe is pictured
in the huddle below. I'll give you a clue - it looks like
Jason MacKenzie is checking out McCabe's backside. But enough
about McCabe, because frankly he did stuff all. ;)
Most audible onfield comment was from J.Gowans to C.Gowans
after Chris kicked a point: "GIVE IT TO SLADE FUCK YA!
CHRIS!". There's a lot to be said for brotherly love.
This was only slightly more audible than the Glenelg player
(Luke Panozzo #8) who swore at some children because the ball
didn't come back over the fence quickly enough. This gentleman
also drew attention to himself as some spectators felt his
hygiene standards were not up-to-scratch. The full-back was
met with a chant of "DON'T PICK YOUR NOSE-O, PANOZZO!",
everytime he kicked the ball back into play.
But my personal favourite was the antics of Glenelg's Paul
Allison #6 who constantly antagonised James Gowans while they
stood each other. Perhaps there's some sour grapes there from
Allison's days with the Eagles? :) You've got to hand it to
our Gowans boys - the amount of crap they cop from opposition
players and spectators is phenomenal. Keep it up lads!
