Heat limits record-breaking

Game #896, Round 2, 2/4/2005
Centrals 14.12(96) def. Norwood 6.8(44)

It was anticipated that Centrals would re-write the record books and show no mercy toward last year's Wooden Spooners. But the Bulldogs' chance to break a pile of records was undone by an energy-sapping 38 degrees.

Only one record was broken: Norwood's lowest EVER score against Centrals, eclipsing the previous lowest score of 45 points which they achieved in their loss to Centrals in the 1995 Preliminary Final.

Centrals fans could be forgiven for being disappointed with the modest 52-point victory. Norwood were below woeful.

Alas, the modern-day Norwood is but a shadow of their Powerhouse team of the 1880's. It's a pity Norwood can't release a DVD of those heady days.

But on a positive note, the trip wasn't a complete waste of time for Norwood fans. Those arriving early got to see what a 21st Century Premiers flag looks like.
