Centrals 13.7(85) def by. Norwood 14.14(98)

In what was expected to be a one-sided competition, a team of mainly Centrals juniors and hopefuls came within a whisker of embarrassing Norwood on home soil. With only 8 or 9 league players in the line-up, Centrals went down by 13 points after drawing level during the final quarter.

But the result on the scoreboard was irrelevant to those who had the team sheet in their hands. It was obvious Centrals were using this game to trial juniors. In fact, I spent most of the night checking and re-checking the team sheet just to work out who was playing! There were plenty of unfamiliar names and numbers out there in Centrals guernseys and I'd expect a number of them them to get some league games this year.

ps. The reserves lost their game as well, and although I didn't see the game, I heard we were even fielding 15-year-olds!
