Centrals has continued its 21-year unbeaten record over Sturt at Unley Oval with
a gutsy win in difficult conditions. If Sturt were smart, they'd give Unley Oval
the flick and schedule all their home games against Centrals up at Hamra Homes Oval
- they at least manage to fluke the occasional win up there, and the place doesn't
run out of beer at 3-quarter time.
With a few players clearly far from their best,
the Dogs struggled to put the game beyond the reach of an ordinary Sturt outfit.
The Dogs seemed to dominate much of the play, but were hampered by really crap umpiring
(at least 3 soft frees directly in front of goal for Sturt), a gale force wind which
nullified our usually superior tall forwards and some silly mistakes in defence
which gifted a couple of goals to Sturt. Centrals was its own worst enemy up forward
as well, missing numerous easy shots on goal and also hitting the post at least 3
times. Happy to take the
points, but we'll need to be a lot sharper than that come finals time.
