Game #930, Round 14 8/7/2006 @ Woodville Oval
Centrals 12.4(76) def. by Eagles 14.16(100)

There were plenty of reasons why I tipped us to lose yesterday:
1. The Dogs are improving but are still way off their best form.
2. The Dogs are missing several key players (Steinberner, Graham, Cochrane, Currie,
Symes).
3. The Dogs had a hard slog in the wet against West the previous week.
4. The Eagles were fresh off a bye.
Putting all that together, I said to my brother as we arrived at the game: "I
think we might get thumped today." So to hit the front halfway through the final
term and once again have the Eagles team and supporters running scared was fantastic!
Up until yesterday, I thought the Eagles might be the best team in the league (apart
from us) but now I'm not so sure. Take away the massive assistance from the umpires
they had and I doubt the Eagles could have touched us.
I'm really excited about our chances come finals time. The Eagles SHOULD have
thumped us today, but they turned out to be far from the team they used to be. Besides,
psychological inferiority will always prevent the Eagles from being serious contenders
come finals time. :)
Speaking of psychological inferiority, when are those Eagles supporters going
to take a break? I've never seen or heard a sadder bunch of morons and mental cases
- spending all their time abusing Centrals players and supporters rather than supporting
their team. I think they should get some experts down to Woodville to conduct a study.
One of these sad cases was thankfully ejected from the ground after hitting one of
the Gowans twins. Oofcourse this incident will be hushed up by the media outlets
who like to pretend that all the poor behaviour at football matches is caused by
Centrals supporters. This is a serious incident - one of the worst for years, so
I'll be interested to see how they hush this one up. |
