Game #951,
23/6//2007 Round 12 @ Hamra Homes Oval
Centrals 15.10(100) def. Eagles 7.7(49)
From start to finish, the Bulldogs piled on the pressure and exposed some serious flaws in the Eagles game plan and personnel. The Eagles never really looked like they were in the game and it was obvious that Centrals were superior all over the ground.
Premiership hangover? Injuries? Who cares. Bottom line is, the Eagles are not what they used to be and I can't see them playing a big part come finals.
Mullins, in only his second league appearance, more than held his own with a solid performance. Nice to have another league-quality player available. O'Sullivan, Callinan, Slade and Slattery seemed to be everywhere. And the Centrals defence was impregnable with Schell, Grima and Cochrane repelling most Eagles attacks with ease.
Don't think I saw an Eagles supporter until quarter time when I migrated to the northern end. Still, it wasn't a bad crowd considering there was only one set of supporters in attendance.
Stats:
Centrals has won 28 of the last 30 matches at Hamra Homes Oval. Without doubt, the most dominant and formidable home ground advantage in the league!
