Bulldog Heaven in 2007

Game #962, 7/10/2007 Grand Final @ AAMI Stadium
Centrals 16.11(107) def. North 5.12(42)

Yes it's a crappy title, but I couldn't help but poke fun at the North fans who wore "ROOSTER HEAVEN IN 2007" t-shirts. Talk about getting ahead of themselves!

In front of a crowd of 30,000, Centrals ripped apart a comically outclassed and overweight Roosters outfit. A good example of how having pie-eating machines in your coaching staff can have a trickle-down effect on the players. It would have been a medical miracle if that pack of slobs beat the Bulldogs in a Grand Final. No wonder the first flare of the day went off when Centrals kicked the first goal of the game.

Anyway, let's cut the crap and get to what you really want: Callum's photos. Enjoy! And if I'm not mistaken, this is the largest spread of quality photos we've put up for a single game.

Stats:
No other club has contested 8 Grand Finals in a row.
Centrals has beaten North on all 4 occasions they have met in finals.
Chris Gowans became the only player in SANFL history to win 2 Jack Oatey medals!
Centrals (with 6) has now overtaken North and Norwood (5 each) for chimney unveiling ceremonies. Only Port and Sturt have enjoyed more chimney ceremonies since the tradition began in 1954.

The James Gowans incident

Disappointing to see James Gowans get reported for clocking North player Schubert around the chops. Ofcourse what the umpire didn't see was Schubert hitting Gowans behind the play a few seconds earlier. No doubt that cowardly scumbag will get quite a reception from Centrals fans the next time we play.

Also disappointng was the reaction of fans and the media to the entire incident. They all called for James's head and the anit-Gowans bandwagon was in full flight on several disreputable websites. This was all in ignorance of the fact that Schubert was the real villain of the story. And when eventually the footage surfaced and the truth was revealed, the silence on the whole issue was deafening. Nobody called for Schubert's head! Nobody was interested in the truth. It seems Schubert wasn't the only coward to reveal his true colours. Quite a few "commentators" after the fact can hang their heads in shame too.
