A streaker, a flare and a win

Game #963, 29/3/2008 Round 1 @ Hamra Homes Oval
Centrals 14.4(88) def. Port 10.8(68)

Centrals have opened the season with a shaky 20-point win over Port Adelaide. Skill errors from both sides were typical for the start of a season. Ofcourse we know the Dogs will improve as the season wears on, while Port will probably stay the same. We'll need to play a lot better next week, otherwise Sturt will pull our pants down and do something nasty. In the absence of a polished Centrals performance, the highlight of the night was probably the streaker - who overshadowed even the obligatory flare that was let off.

I'd just like to make a few points about the final picture above:

  1. The streaker only had one arm. Maybe I need to get out more, but I've never seen or heard of a one-armed streaker before. This could be a world first.
  2. Weslo proved yet again how useless they are. The streaker ran across the length of the ground; then stopped because he was puffed out; then took up position on a half back flank and looked around wondering where security was.
  3. Considering the streaker only had one arm, how did he keep his backpack on? Was there just enough of a stump to hook it on to his left shoulder?

Stats:
Centrals has won the last 3 in a row and 10 of the last 12 matches against Port.
